Do you have any SHARPS?
“Sharps” include any objects that have been used in the course of patient care, research, animal care, body art application, medical care and in laboratories. These items pose a serious safety and health risk to employees, customers and others and must be stored, handled and disposed of properly. Used sharps must be stored immediately in an approved “Sharps” container and then disposed of properly.
Sharps can include but are not limited to:
- Broken glass or capillary tubes
- Culture dishes and slides

- Acupuncture needles
- Blood vials
- Root canal files

- Suture needles
- Syringes with and without needles
- Trauma scene waste that can cut, slice or pierce
- Tubing with needles
Let HNHS help you review your Sharps needs and show you how we can help you save money while protecting your staff and others.
We also offer a Reusable Sharps program to help lessen the impact of your facility on the environment. Our Reusable Sharps Containers are FDA 510(k) cleared as Class II Medical Devices, as well as OSHA Compliant.
Per an article in Greenhealth Magazine, “Reusable sharps containers are safer for health care workers, patients and the environment than any current alternative for sharps disposal. While it is imperative that the industry continues to innovate and explore better solutions in all areas of hospital management and patient care, when it comes to sharps management, reusable sharps containers are the best solution for the market today.”
